Kirkstead, St Leonard

Kirkstead, St Leonard (church's own photo)

This tiny chapel is thought to have been built as a chantry chapel in memory of Robert de Tattershall (the grandson of the founder of Kirkstead Abbey) in the early part of the 13th century. Enter through the original wooden door and sit to admire the delicate stonework, the carving of the wooden screen (one of the oldest in the country) and the special atmosphere.

Opening times:
Sunday 1pm–4pm

Postcode: LN10 6UH
